- Chew gum
- Listen to a podcast, book, or scary story (just not in the woods)
- Drink water
- Take breaks every hour to walk somewhere safe
- Roll the windows down
- Talk to a friend
- Eat a high protein snack
- Listen to a foreign radio station and try to work out the rules to that language
- Talk candidly to someone you can’t talk to in real life
- Sing at the top of your lungs
I like #9. I usually go for listening to an audiobook, but that failed me last weekend when the narrator talked me right to sleep. I had to resort to drinking caffeine and withholding bathroom breaks in order to create a buzzed discomfort that kept me going. #9, however, could really get my blood going. Great, practical list.
The only thing I can’t do is #2. I end up paying so much attention to what I’m listening to that I forget what I’m supposed to be doing.
My “go-to” methods are #9 and #10. I’ll have to try the others sometime.
Thank you!
Yes to protein! Amazing how much a burger and a walk can help. 🙂
I cannot handle night driving, which is why I leave at 5:30 am to do my marathon drive to Ventura. Audio books eat up the miles.
Awesome list (and awesome car in the pic)! I have done every single one of those, except for #8. I think my favorites are #2, #6, and #10…or at least they’re my most frequent go-to’s. I have become the biggest audiobook and podcast fan, thanks to SOMEone I know…
Been there, done all of those things except the foreign language one – maybe. I did listen to a Portuguese station once, and was amazing how much like both French and Spanish it is without being intelligible to me at all. Kind of like computer talk in English. Love the list. 🙂
Thanks for reading and commenting.
Always my pleasure! 🙂
